The Opportunity:
Solvest is seeking a Solar Technician to join our dynamic team. In this position, Solar Technicians will work as members of our solar and heat pump installation team, typically in a shift rotation developing utility scale and ground-mounted solar and energy storage projects in the North and/or community-scale air-source heat pump projects in the territory. Work includes working at heights and assisting electricians when required. Employment Status: Permanent Full Time
Wage: $25.00 – $31.00 per hour (based on experience) + annual profit-sharing bonus based on company performance
Job Description:
The chosen candidates will be trained and expected to perform the following tasks:
· Install solar photovoltaic systems at various worksites. Install all components in keeping with Solvest’s training standards and industry best practices as well as product installation manuals. All electrical aspects of the project are directly supervised by the crew Electrician.
· Install ground mount – Nuance Racking – including installing the earth anchors and testing each anchor with the load locker.
· Assist electricians in pulling and strapping cable or installing inverters as required.
· Ensure the worksite is clean organized and safe at all times.
· Complete all work in a timely manner.
· Be respectful and polite to clients, other contractors, and members of the community.
· Other tasks assigned as part of the Solar Technician position agreement, including but not limited to the installation of air-source heat pumps
· Occasionally operate equipment (Skidsteer, manlift)
Required Skills/Qualification:

  • Previous experience in the green economy sector, and/or previous solar experience
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability work with basic hand tools.
  • Punctual, ready and fit to work.
  • Safety-first approach.

Additional Requirements:
· Must be willing to work at heights – Fall Arrest Training will be provided.
· Must be willing to wear all required PPE including safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed boots, gloves and Hi-Vis vest.
· Must be willing to travel to remote northern communities.
