Your Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Health and Wellness, the youth wellness worker provides direct and holistic support for youth, often through programs that promote their social emotional, and cultural well-being. The role includes individual and group support, crisis intervention, community referrals, advocacy, program development, and participation in culturally responsive activities. A deep understanding of Carcross/Tagish values and traditions are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and group-based support to youth to develop life skills and foster cultural connection.
- Deliver drop-in services and crisis support focusing on social and emotional wellness.
- Help youth access and engage with community services, programs, and resources.
- Advocate for youth and empower informed decision-making and self-directed care.
- Participate in designing and running youth-focused programs.
- Collaborate with families, service providers, and stakeholders to promote holistic youth care.
- Ensure culturally respectful and responsive practices in all aspects of programming.
- Document interactions, referrals, and progress using required reporting standards.
- Supervise youth during field programs and ensure their safety and well-being.
- Support aftercare programming for youth returning from treatment, including on-the-land activities, camping, horse therapy, and traditional pursuits.
Essential Qualifications

- Education in Youth Work, Social Services, or equivalent
- Experience supporting youth, preferably in First Nation communities.
- Coursework or training in trauma-informed care, crisis response, or conflict resolution is an asset.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Suitability
- Education in Youth Work, Social Services, or equivalent.

- Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other digital tools.
- Knowledge of Indigenous history, including impacts of formal justice and child welfare systems.

Conditions of Employment
- RCMP criminal record check, with vulnerable sector
- Valid class 5 Yukon’s drivers license
- Verification of Education (if applicable)
- Willing to work flexible hours
