Associate Producer - Arts in the Park

Music Yukon is seeking a student or youth to join the Arts in the Park production team! The Associate Producer works directly with the Arts in the Park Producer to deliver a six week concert series in downtown Whitehorse, gaining hands-on experience in live music production and arts and culture events.
A student is a person over the age of 15 who attended a secondary, post-secondary, or vocational school full-time during the current academic year for at least 1 semester. There is no maximum age for students. A youth is a person between the ages of 15 and 25 who does not meet the definition of a student. To qualify, a youth must have been a Yukon resident since March 1, 2024.
All applicants must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Wage: $22/hourTerm/Hours: 30 hours/week, for 8 weeksStart Date: May 26, 2025
RESPONSIBILITIESThe Associate Producer will report to the Arts in the Park Producer, and will be responsible for: - Assisting the Producer in various daily production tasks onsite at Lepage Park - Working closely with the Producer and Sound Technician to deliver daily performances and support weekly visual artists - Addressing performer needs and requests - Helping set up sound and other equipment daily in Lepage Park, and tearing down/storing equipment daily following performances - Welcoming audience members and assisting them as needed - Keeping the space clean and safe for performers and audience members - Contributing to social media content, the generation of graphics and marketing items such as posters, and other marketing initiatives - Executing administrative and production duties as directed by the ProducerEXPERIENCE AND SKILLSThe ideal candidate will have an interest in working in the arts and production - experience is an asset. Desired experience and skills include: - Ability to work as a cooperative member of a small team - Open to learning on the job and incorporating new skills - Capacity to execute tasks and focus in a dynamic environment (due to the outdoor venue) - Comfortable working with the public and representing an organization to the public - Excellent communication skills - Familiarity with Gmail and Google Drive - Experience with Canva or other design software/skills is an asset - Experience with Facebook and Instagram, and posting on behalf of an organization or company - Experience in live music, events, or theatre production (paid or volunteer experience) - Familiarity with the Yukon music and visual arts communities - Ability to lift 40lbs
BACKGROUNDMusic Yukon is a not-for-profit society dedicated to supporting, developing, and assisting musicians and music related companies achieve their artistic and business goals and to be a leader in the development of the music sector across Canada’s North. Arts in the Park is an outdoor summer concert series celebrating visual and performing arts in downtown Whitehorse, with an emphasis on music. In 2025 Arts in the Park will celebrate its 29th season, and will present free concerts and activities in Lepage Park at 12pm Monday through Friday from June 2nd to July 11th.
