This is a posting for a contract position starting October 1st, until end of term (6 months from start). Computers for Schools does not discriminate based on ethnicity, or gender. Each year, CFS+ Yukon provides paid work experience opportunities to youth seeking a career in the IT field through the Computers for Schools+ Internship. CFS+ Intern technicians refurbish computers for distribution to schools and other not for profit and First Nations organizations in the Yukon. Working with CFSY exposes technician interns to many makes and models of computer equipment. This allows youth to hone their hardware knowledge and develop critical team-building, communication, and mentoring skills.
The program helps to bridge the gap between education and gaining long term employment, so that less applicants in the IT industry find themselves in the position of being passed by for jobs due to having little practical experience, even if they're technically qualified.
Job Description (employees will be trained to):
- receive technology donations
- support our clients by email, phone, and conference software, helping solve problems and educating
- troubleshoot used computer equipment to be fixed and distributed to clients
Qualifications:
- must be a Citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- must be over 15 and under 30 years old
- must have certified safety boots (steel or composite toe)
- not receiving E.I. benefits while employed with us
Assets:
- priority will be given to applicants who have experience in post-secondary education (please still apply if you don't have this experience)
- a working knowledge of computer operating systems like Linux, Windows and macOS (we will train otherwise though)
- a willingness, and keen curiosity to learn more
Hours:
5 days per week - Monday to Friday
37.5 hours per week
6 month term
