Digital Skills Intern

As a Programming and Technical (Digital Skills) Intern, you will be helping to bring
film production education and exhibition to Yukoners through YFS’ core
activities. Learn under the mentorship of YFS’ Technical Coordinator,
ALD Distribution Coordinator, and Artistic Director. Become familiar
with our Artist access Rental Equipment, conduct outreach with the
community, create content for our Available Light on Demand online
platform
, learn post-production skills for marketing content used at the Yukon Cinema, and assist with the technical production of the Available
Light Film Festival
. An amazing opportunity for hands on experience with
the full circle of media production and distribution.
The internship starts November 17th, 2025 and ends March 13th, 2026. 35 hours a week with an hourly wage of $24.

The key tasks for the Programming and Technical Assistant:

  • undertake content creation about films and filmmakers on YFS’ Available Light On-Demand (ALD) video streaming service;
  • organize YFS library of digital video documentation of events,
    talks, and guests captured at Available Light Film Festival and other
    media art presentations over the past 15 years;
  • help coordinate and manage the operations of YFS’ production equipment rental services to its members;
  • assist the YFS Technical Coordinator with event production during the Available Light Film festival 2025;
  • conduct outreach to help determine youth film making training strategies YFS might pursue;
  • assist the YFS Technical Coordinator with workshop and training activities and events

Eligible candidate must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship;
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Either a citizen, permanent
    resident or person with refugee status. Work permits are not eligible);
  • Self identify as underemployed (i.e. employed below their level of
    education, holding part-time employment, or in emerging fields with few
    jobs);
  • Have no immediate family relationship with the employer;
