Dishwasher/Kitchen Helper Paid Youth Work Experience

Reports To: Kitchen Supervisor or Program Coordinator
Position Summary
The Youth Kitchen Helper/Dishwasher supports the smooth running of our kitchen by ensuring cleanliness, organization, and basic food preparation assistance. This is an entry-level youth position that provides valuable workplace skills in teamwork, responsibility, and safe kitchen practices.
Key Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment.
  • Keep kitchen surfaces, sinks, and floors clean and sanitary.
  • Assist with basic food preparation (washing produce, portioning, setting up ingredients).
  • Collect and take out garbage, recycling, and compost as directed.
  • Restock supplies (cutlery, dishes, napkins, cleaning products).
  • Follow safe food handling and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Support kitchen staff as needed to ensure smooth meal service.

Skills and Qualifications

  • No previous experience required—training will be provided.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Comfortable standing for periods of time and lifting up to 25 lbs.
