The Yukon First Nation Education Directorate (YFNED) is looking for an Early Years Visitor to support Carcross and the surrounding area of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation (CTFN). Located on CTFN traditional territory, the successful candidate will build on community strengths and Indigenous culture to enhance parenting and early learning opportunities for Indigenous families with children 0-5 – an approach shown to improve better health, well-being, and learning outcomes for children.
As the Early Years Visitor, you will deliver holistic, culturally grounded programming for families, supporting new parents from the prenatal stage through to infancy and toddlerhood. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is connected to the community, has a strong knowledge of First Nation culture, and is passionate about early childhood development. The position will work closely with the Carcross/Tagish First Nation (CTFN) and community partners to deliver the program.
The YFNED is partnered with the Martin Family Initiative (MFI); a charity that works alongside First Nations, Inuit and Métis People in Canada to help foster Indigenous children and youth’s education and wellbeing. The MFI Early Years is an innovative evidence-informed program model that seeks to honour parents as their children’s first teachers, support healthy pregnancies and infancy and successful service navigation.
