Cobalt Construction Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our field operations team and keep our equipment running smoothly at job sites.
Position Summary
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of a variety of construction equipment directly on job sites. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring project uptime, worker safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of heavy construction equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, rock trucks, and compactors.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns on job sites promptly and safely.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures.
- Work independently or with other mechanics/operators as required.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification (or journeyperson equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with heavy construction equipment.
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and mechanical diagnostics.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
- Valid driver’s licence; Class 3 or higher considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel to remote job sites as needed.
