About the Role
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Operator-In-Training will be responsible for supporting the operations of the former Mount Nansen mine site and perform general site care and maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support general care and maintenance activities on site including site pumps, distribution systems (water, electrical and fuel), communication systems, buildings, and roadways.
- Operate heavy equipment (e.g., loaders, excavators, on-site trucks) to support site maintenance, and safe access to critical areas.
- Perform snow removal, and surface maintenance to ensure site roads and access routes remain safe.
- Support the maintenance of all on-site equipment in good and safe working order by performing regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Conduct pre-operational checks and ensure safe operation of all heavy equipment in compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the site, including roadways, camp infrastructure and work zones.
- Perform general labour and small construction activities around the site.
- Periodic inspections of on-site equipment to ensure proper performance of operations.
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly sampling, inspections and monitoring of tailings area, ponds, and water from various sources at the site.
- Prepare daily/monthly/quarterly summary reports of site operation including time tracking.
- Take proper safety precautions, anticipate unsafe circumstances, and act accordingly to prevent accidents.
- All other duties as required.
About You
- 1-3 years of experience preferably in an industrial setting.
- Safety conscience and willing to comply with MNRLP Health & Safety Policy and practices.
- Is in good physical health, able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, stand/bend/stoop for long periods of time, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Is in possession of a current Driver’s License, and able to drive to job site.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment (loaders and excavators) and other necessary equipment.
- This role will require a pre-access drug and alcohol test.
