Inventory Control Clerk

G-P Distributing is a locally owned and operated food service distributor that has been servicing the Yukon and North Western NWT since 1995. Class: Permanent, Full-time
Hourly Pay Range: $20 - $24 per hour - Depending on experience
Hours of Work: 80 hours Bi-Weekly
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Accuracy

  • Maintain accurate inventory by ensuring all goods are entered into the receiving module and are tagged appropriately
  • Maintain stock rotation (do spot checks) on receiving days
  • Running inventory counts as per the procedure
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies in reported quantities during inventory counts, receiving, and shipping, as required
  • Inventory Analytics – pull reports
  • Ensure that all overstocked tags are properly filled out and the product has been put in its location on the shelf
  • Update item codes and item descriptions in Sage
  • Changing & updating UOM (unit of measure)

Receiving and Shipping

  • After the batches have been uploaded, receive all the uploaded batches according to the procedure
  • Assist in noting any damaged or short-dated product as it comes in on Teams
  • Identify and resolve issues as goods arrive / are picked, escalating issues as necessary to the Purchaser
  • Connect with Purchasing daily regarding new products. Be prepared to deal with new products as they are received
  • Deal with new items & products that do not scan
  • Assist with receiving as required
  • Ship orders, as required

Labeling & Scanning

  • Prepare and print labels. Replace any labels as needed
  • Ensure all the product barcodes can be scanned using the handheld

Bin Management

  • Locating bins
  • Deleting or updating the primary bins as needed
  • Dealing with the items in the quality and damaged bins

General Duties

  • Specials still on the shelves need to be reviewed and shared with the Office, Sales and Purchasing teams every Friday morning
  • Every Wednesday, send a list of expiring products to the Purchasing team (anything 3 weeks out)
  • Clean the upstairs bathroom on a weekly basis
  • Assist in general cleaning duties around the warehouse, as needed
  • Work on special projects allocated by Management.
