Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Helpers to join our team at an authentic Indian restaurant in Yukon. You will assist in food preparation, maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, and support the chefs with daily operations.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruits for cooking (e.g., onions, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, chilies)
- Assist in preparing traditional Indian dishes (e.g., curries, biryanis, samosas, naan)
- Portion and serve food items according to instructions
- Keep kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils clean and organized
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using a dishwasher or by hand
- Remove kitchen garbage and trash
- Unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas
- Assist cooks and chefs in handling tandoor, grill, and stove tasks when needed
- Follow food safety and hygiene regulations
- Refill condiments, sauces, and cooking ingredients regularly
Requirements
- No formal education required; on-the-job training provided
- Previous experience in a kitchen or Indian restaurant is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
