  • Salary: $30-32.00/hr plus benefits and 3 weeks paid vacation
  • Full/Part Time: Up to 20 hours a week.
  • Duration: Part-Time Role from Aug 24, 2025- September 30, 2026 with possibility of extension

WHO IS YWITT?
YWITT is located on the territory of the self-governing Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwatch’an Council. Since its incorporation in August 2000, YWITT has been working as a feminist, community non-profit organization based in Whitehorse, Yukon to advance equality in trades and technology careers. YWITT works alongside community partners and runs programs and initiatives. This includes experiential workshops, advocacy support, community-led research and policy work.
WHAT IS THE JOB?
75% of this position is the organizational lead on YWITT’s emerging Leadership Program. The Leadership Coordinator will be directing and shaping the program, and facilitating the work start to finish. The Leadership Coordinator (LC) will work in collaboration with the Executive Director and the existing LC on this project to recruit participants, support participants, facilitate discussions, deliver workshops and work directly with the community participants of the training.
25% of this position will involve additional ongoing community support to adult tradespeople and people in tech in the form of individualized case management through referral to services, career advice, connection to mentors, training and potential employers.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Assessed through Resume/Cover Letter and Interview process):

  • Experience working in leadership training, as a leadership program participant or equivalent lived experience
  • Experience working in trades, technology or industry is an asset
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically
  • Experience working with, managing and fostering collaboration in community
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities in a context of change and ambiguity and an ability to adapt to these changing needs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with Yukon First Nations and Northern Indigenous peoples

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Add to design and lead training opportunities for community members
  • Attend and facilitate group conversations and discussion during regular meetups
  • Develop and nurture relationships with community members
  • Respond to requests from educational and employer partners for inclusion resources for staff, engage in training and workshops with the goal of becoming a facilitator and integrating these into policies and new programs for YWITT
  • Develop and nurture relationships with and between critical community partners such as with service providers, business partners, First Nations partners, municipal and territorial partners with the support other programming staff
  • Booking programming spaces and purchasing and transporting supplies when necessary
  • Conducting debriefs, evaluations and writing reports
  • Event management
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and support team projects and/or events as needed

Administrative Support

  • Working with a budget and cash flow
  • General record retention and documentation
  • Writing, editing and preparing reports
  • Reply to information requests with referrals, and accurate information,
  • Provide administration support to management and other staff including: responding to public inquiries and maintaining office equipment etc
  • Facilitating group meetings, focus group discussions, and/or individual interviews, independently and/or with support
  • Starting and/or supporting new project(s) with interested community members, workplaces, and/or organizations
  • Taking notes at or after meetings and documenting ongoing work using words, pictures, video, or other creative means
  • Soliciting oral and/or written feedback from different people about our activities and events
  • Sharing your ideas, ongoing feedback, and reflections as part of our learning and team process

Working Conditions
The Leadership Coordinator reports to and is supervised by the Executive Director.
This position is located in an open office environment and may involve travel to communities throughout Yukon. Additionally, this position must work collaboratively with many community partners including our program partnersOur office is based out of Whitehorse, though we are open for some of this work to be done remotely. For those with capacity and availability, this work may include visiting communities, so it’s a big plus for us if you are connected to other towns and nations outside Whitehorse.Conditions of Employment
