About the Job :
Operating in a Northern British Columbia mining environment on a two week in/two week out shift rotation, the Site Services Maintenance (Red Seal Tradesperson) is an integral part of the Site Services Operations at the Silvertip Operation. Solid work ethics, regular attendance, and punctuality are essential requirements for this position
Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-operational checks and operate equipment according to Safe Operating Procedures.
  • Operate heavy motorized equipment used in earth moving operations including, but not limited to, tanker, dozer, scraper, loader, grader, mobile compost mixer, 18-wheel tractor-trailer, truck, crane, excavator, and other equipment to support a variety of operations at the mine site.
  • May build, level and excavate land surfaces.
  • Gather and load dirt and waste products from job sites onto trucks and transport them to the appropriate location.
  • Operate a water tanker and similar equipment for dust control and dirt compaction.
  • Monitor equipment and processes and ensure equipment deficiencies and operational issues are reported clearly.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication.
  • Assist with disassembling and reassembling screeners/conveyors.
  • Conduct trouble shooting activities when problems arise.
  • Complete Operator Report Sheets and Daily Logbooks.
  • Experience in operating the varied equipment required for the position including but not limited to bobcat, wheel loader, zoom boom and manlifts.
  • Mining industry experiences desired.
  • Valid class 5 drivers’ license.
  • Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must have a Red Seal journeyman ticket in at least one of the following:
  • Carpentry, Plumbing, Gas fitter, Oil burner mechanic, Millwright
  • Experience in multi-trade building maintenance is essential, with demonstrated skills in diagnostic and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing gas-fired and oil-fired appliances is required, aligned with current Canadian safety codes.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing water and sewer systems (plumbing)
  • Basic carpentry skills are required.
  • Ability to maintain and repair oil burning equipment (Frost fighters)

  • Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
  • Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
