We are looking for a confident and well-organized individual to join our growing Whitehorse team as the Studio Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for all practical steps necessary to ensure that the company and team can work effectively and efficiently in serving our clients. As the public face of TAG in Whitehorse you will build relationships with our clients, partner companies, and sub-consultants across Yukon and BC and seek out new connections to support the company’s growth.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel, including the following:
- Understanding of basic accounting formulas
- Referencing between worksheets using the index function
- Completion of at least one course in Microsoft Excel is not required but viewed as an asset
- Strong written communication skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- A willingness to learn other computer programs as required.
- Valid Yukon driver’s license and access to a vehicle at least once per week for mail pick-up, supply runs, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in other office environments.
Assets
The following qualities are considered as assets, but candidates will be supported through training to develop these skills/qualifications:
- Knowledge of and current certification in the following Certificate of Recognition (COR) areas:
- Principles of Health and Safety Management
- COR Internal Auditor Certification
- Joint Health and Safety Committee representative or Safety Representative.
- (TAG will pay for the costs and time to complete training in these areas for the right candidate).
- Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc.)
- General website design (Wix/Squarespace) updates and marketing/social media duties, in collaboration with the Research and Marketing Team.
- Experience with bookkeeping and familiarity with financial administration processes, record keeping etc.
TAG supports the professional development of staff, and upgrading relevant skills and interests will be supported.
Position Duties
Daily Tasks
- Receive phone calls and in person guests and transfer them as required.
- Manage supply and maintenance of general office equipment and supplies
- General administration errands (picking up printing, water fills, recycling, coffee supplies, and others as needed.)
- General administration duties (answering phones when in, shredding paper, general cleaning, checking office mail)
- Office improvements (organizing/ordering supplies for materials library, coordinating additional sample needs with design staff)
- Participate in arranging office social events with all staff in the office.
- Other office duties as required.
Health and Safety Tasks
- Manage TAG/TAG Engineering’s COR Health and Safety program including:
- Ongoing tracking of hazard assessments and other general Health and Safety records paperwork, ensuring the maintenance of the program, and the offices COR certification are up to date.
- Undertaking annual internal audits and coordinating an external Audit every 3 years.
- Updating existing health and safety manual as required.
- Coordinating office safety inspections with other team members
- Participating in and minuting the inter-office Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings.
- Maintaining safety training tracking system for workers and coordinating recertifications as required.
Office Management
- Assist in the organization of office staff professional memberships, continuing education etc.
- Coordinate project travel for TAG and TAG Engineering Staff (flights, accommodations, vehicle rentals, etc.).
- Filing and general records management.
- Monitor staff schedule and information – holidays, sick time, etc.
- Maintain the common office Outlook calendar.
- Monitor recycling, contracted office cleaner, and watering schedules.
- Assist Business Manager in preparation of office documentation, procedures etc.
- Monitor condition of office equipment arrange maintenance, replacement, upgrade as needed.
- Liaise with the Building Manager regarding general maintenance, leases, etc.
- Review and updating of office document templates for staff information tracking, invoicing, et cetera (MS Word, Excel).
- Collect mail and couriered packages.
- Maintain the front desk area in a clean and presentable condition.
- Keep office storeroom tidy and maintain inventory.
- Maintain the office keys and alarm system and record key assignments.
- Assist with setting up Client and Consultant project contracts.
- Undertake other activities and duties as are required for the management and operation of the office.
Organization Structure
This position is in Whitehorse, and reports to the Senior Business Manager located in the Yellowknife Office and undertakes work for both TAG and TAG Engineering.
The position will be focused principally on the operations of the Whitehorse office, and successful candidates are expected to collaborate closely with the Managing Associate and senior TAG Engineering staff in the Whitehorse Office. In addition to the Whitehorse Office, the position will take on some company-wide tasks to support the Senior Business Manager.
Schedule and Compensation
TAG’s Office Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
- Candidates are expected to work a minimum of 30 hours per week. Final schedule will be worked out with the successful candidate to suit individual situations.
- Overtime is compensated or may be taken in lieu.
- Mileage for personal vehicle use is compensated.
- Wage to be commensurate with experience.

- Paid vacation – amount dependent on schedule.
- Additional 2 weeks (approx.) of paid vacation over the Holiday Office Shutdown in December.
- Annual Professional Development/Wellness stipend after one year of work with TAG.
Contract Details
Candidate will begin employment immediately. The employment contract will be permanent following the conclusion of a 3-month probationary period.
