About the Role
As a Field Operations Supervisor (FOS) with Statistics Canada, you will play a vital part in leading the planning, organization, and supervision of census field operations in your assigned area.
You will be responsible for training and supervising staff, coordinating their activities, and ensuring that project deadlines and quality standards are met. This position supports the 2026 Census, an essential statistical process that provides meaningful data for Canadians.

Key Responsibilities
Participate in the planning, organizing and supervision of census field operations for an assigned area.
Train and oversee a team of supervisors and coordinate their activities and those of their employees.
Review activity reports to monitor, analyze, and evaluate field operations.
Approve weekly payments, expenses, and allowances for employees.
Monitor staff performance and resolve collection, staffing, and pay issues.
Promote participation in the census and support regional communications.
Respond to public inquiries.
Collaborate with other census staff and management to resolve operational issues.
Work closely with Recruitment Clerk and Field Operations Manager to meet targets.
Education:
Secondary school diploma, OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Essential Experience:
- Managing a workload, delegating tasks to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with computers—using email, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, creating virtual meeting invites, etc.
- Experience in at least one (1) of the following:
- Working on a large-scale project with tight deadlines and priorities.
- Supervising a team, including assigning work and managing performance.
