Reporting to the Manager of Medical Imaging, the incumbent works collaboratively with the Medical Imaging leadership team to oversee the operations of the Medical Imaging Computed Tomography (CT) Program. The incumbent provides supervision, leadership, training and support for all technologist functions and develops and improves processes to optimize workflow ensuring patients receive timely, safe, high quality, and culturally appropriate patient care while accessing Medical Imaging services. The incumbent is expected to perform the role of a Medical Imaging CT Technologist when necessary.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Knowledge of professional practices as outlined by Medical Imaging professional association guidelines and policies
- Excellent knowledge of and proficiency in CT scanning techniques and protocols
- Knowledge of and proficiency in Venipuncture
- Knowledge of and proficiency in contrast media administration including contraindications, reactions and side effects
- Excellent knowledge of Quality Assurance program
- Excellent knowledge of basic and cross sectional anatomy, physiology and pathology
- Excellent knowledge of digital imaging equipment (operates, troubleshoots and adjusts as required)
- Knowledge of PACS and RIS
- Knowledge of Radiation, Health and Safety Regulations
- Ability to deal with situations in a professional manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with colleagues, peers, patients and families
- Excellent ability to organize, prioritize, adapt to workload variances and resolve work related problems
- Ability to keep current with technology changes and aid in implementation of accepted change
- Ability to teach other health care professionals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; advocacy and assertiveness skills
- Thoroughness and attention to detail
- Reliability, self-motivation and ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity
The successful applicant will have completed an accredited Medical Imaging Technology program and hold current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). The candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience as a CT Technologist and at least two years of leadership or supervisory experience, or an equivalent demonstration of leadership abilities. A CT Imaging Certificate or equivalent experience is required.
Knowledge or certification in the following areas would be considered assets for this position: Leadership Skills, Conflict Resolution, and Human Resource Management. A Bachelor of Radiation Science or Bachelor of Technology degree in Medical Imaging would also be considered an asset.
