Land and Language Lead

Based in Whitehorse, Yukon, on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, the First Nation School Board (FNSB) was established in February 2022. Board run schools are for all Yukon students and aim to promote reconciliation by enhancing a Yukon First Nations model that puts the students first, through a strengths-based, community-centered approach. Our work reflects Yukon First Nations values.

Based in Whitehorse, the Land and Language Lead is a key leader within the First Nation School Board, supporting the revitalization of Yukon First Nation languages, cultures, and land-based learning. The role provides guidance and mentorship to Land and Language Connectors (based in communities), empowering educators in integrating First Nation worldviews and traditional knowledge into classrooms and on-the-land learning.
Working with Land and Language connectors, the lead offers day to day support in the important work of strengthens culturally responsive programming and builds connections that honor each community’s language, history, and land supporting meaningful learning for all Yukon learners.
