Summary
Northern Vision Development (NVD) is hiring a General Manager to lead day-to-day performance across our Dawson hospitality portfolio: Downtown Hotel, Midnight Sun Hotel, Eldorado Hotel, Bonanza Dining Room, and Sourdough Saloon. This is an on-the-ground role for a steady, hands-on operator who can run high-volume seasonal businesses by setting clear standards, building strong teams, resolving issues quickly, and ensuring guests receive consistent service every day.
What Does Your Success Look Like?
- Dawson operations run smoothly day-to-day with consistent service standards across hotels and restaurants, meeting franchise brand standards where applicable.
- Teams are staffed, trained, scheduled, and supported - people know what “good” looks like and deliver on it.
- Guest issues are handled quickly and professionally
- Labour, food, and operating costs are controlled; results track to plan and problems are surfaced early.
- Franchise standards and property requirements are consistently met, and hotel/franchise audits and inspections are completed successfully.
- Facilities and safety standards are maintained; inspections and compliance requirements are met.
- Peak season pressures (turnover, supply chain, staffing gaps) are managed with calm, practical solutions.
What You Bring To The Role
- Experience managing hotel and restaurant operations
- Strong capability in staffing and scheduling, including labour planning, coverage, and on-the-floor adjustments.
- Fluency with hotel/restaurant systems and reporting (PMS/POS, reservations, cashouts, daily close, basic operational reports).
- Demonstrated cost control in labour and F&B (labour %, food cost, purchasing, waste, inventory discipline) while protecting standards.
- Solid grasp of compliance (cash handling, liquor service, food safety, health & safety, incident documentation).
- Confidence operating in a remote context with shifting priorities and practical constraints.
- Sound judgment under pressure, strong communication, and reliable follow-through.
