Kwanlin Dün First Nation’s (KDFN) Finance Department is seeking a Finance Officer to join their team. This position is responsible for performing day-to-day financial service operations in compliance with all legislation, regulations, and KDFN policies. Responsibilities include ensuring that all financial records and transactions are recorded accurately, making remittances, and performing administrative functions as they relate to financial services.
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional with a strong understanding of financial procedures, reconciliation, and compliance, who will provide direct instructions and mentorship to the General Finance Clerks/Accounts Receivable and peer position for the Funding Officer. This position supports the integrity of financial processes through the review and reconciliation of financial data, coordination with internal departments, and adherence to applicable policies, legislation, and audit standards.
Required Qualifications (what we screen/look for on your resume):
- Bachelors/Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent);
- Proven Experience in Budgeting and Financial Planning – Strong experience in developing, managing, and tracking budgets; understanding of financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- A minimum of three years of experience in full cycle Accounting and Financial Reporting along with strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or on-ongoing education towards would be an asset.
An equivalent combination of on-the-job training, coursework, workshops, and at least five years of experience in accounts payable/receivable and budget variance analysis may be considered.

- Effective organizational and time management skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize work, meet critical regular and irregular deadlines.
- Plan, organize and implement annual reporting requirements which comply with audit and other fiduciary requirements.
- Ability to work successfully independently and in a team environment;
- Builds and maintains respectful, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders involved.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the senior leadership
- Ability to provide mentorship and coaching to other Finance team members
Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
This is not a developmental opportunity. KDFN is prepared to successfully onboard and provide new hire training and support to our chosen candidate. Secondment will also be considered.

Salary: $68,286.40 to $111,001.80 per annum Level 6 & a generous employer paid benefits package after 3 months
