We are recruiting for the 2026 season (May through October). Hotel or Airbnb accommodations will be provided unless you prefer to secure your own private accommodation for the season. LOA based on accommodations.
Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is a key member of our water and sewer crews. For the 2026 season, we will be looking for the following Operators:

  • Mainline Excavator (23-36 tonne)
  • Backfill Excavator
  • Loader
  • Dozer (D5-D7)
  • Grader

We also have a need for specialized Operators experienced in finish GPS hoe, dozer and grader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate excavators (5–40 tonne), backfill excavators, loaders, dozers (D4–D8), and graders safely and efficiently, in accordance with site plans and safety standards.
  • Maintain the highest safety standards by protecting workers, equipment, and vehicles on the job site; prevent utility strikes when working near existing underground infrastructure.
  • Complete daily checklists, safety walk-arounds, cab housekeeping, and routine operator maintenance; immediately report equipment issues to the Foreman.
  • Perform trenching, backfilling, grading, pipe-laying support, and site restoration using a range of heavy equipment.
  • Operate GPS dozers, graders, and excavators for precision excavation, grading, and alignment.
  • Balance efficiency with accuracy to meet production goals while maintaining high standards of workmanship and compliance with specifications.
  • Work closely with pipe crews, laborers, surveyors, and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure project schedules are met.
  • Adjust to changing site conditions, weather, and project requirements; operate various types of heavy equipment as needed to support the crew.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator (sewer and water experience preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to safely operate at least one type of heavy equipment: excavator, dozer, loader, or grader.
  • Experience supporting trenching, backfilling, grading, and site restoration activities.
  • Familiar with excavation safety, working around underground utilities, and trench shoring requirements.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal English; able to follow and communicate clear instructions.
