Foreman - Water and Sewer

We are recruiting for the 2026 construction season (May through October). Hotel or Airbnb accommodations will be provided unless you prefer to secure your own private accommodation for the season. LOA based on accommodations.
Position Summary:
The Foreman oversees the daily performance of crews on sewer and water projects. This role is responsible for assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards in alignment with direction from the Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager. Depending on the project, the Foreman may act in a strictly supervisory capacity or as a hands-on working Foreman.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision

  • Work closely with the Superintendent to plan and execute daily jobsite activities.
  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate crew members to achieve productivity, safety, and quality standards.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, monitor performance, and provide coaching where needed.
  • Act as a front-line leader, supporting Superintendent responsibilities and stepping in as needed.

Project Execution

  • Coordinate and oversee installation of sewer, water, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper locates are completed and underground utilities are protected.
  • Assist in organizing manpower, equipment, and subcontractors to maintain schedules.
  • Inspect and verify work to ensure compliance with specifications and project requirements.
  • Complete quality control documentation and ensure records accurately reflect project specifications and field conditions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a safety-first culture on the jobsite.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory safety and environmental standards.
  • Lead daily Tailgate Talks and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) with crews.
  • Address unsafe acts/conditions immediately and escalate issues as required.

Communication and Reporting

  • Maintain clear communication with Site Superintendents, Project Managers, and crews regarding progress, challenges, and changes.
  • Report on daily production, issues, and resource needs to the Superintendent.
  • Act as a key point of contact for crew members and subcontractors on site.
  • Accurately document daily production and employee timecards.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of foreman experience in civil/infrastructure construction, preferably sewer, water, and earthworks.
  • Prior hands-on experience as a Labourer, Pipelayer, or Topman in sewer and water projects (asset).
  • Proficient in written and verbal English, with the ability to give clear direction to crew members.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, able to motivate and manage teams effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safety-first worksite.
