Sale & Marketing Manager

CHON-FM Indigenous Radio, a not-for-profit society founded in 1984, is seeking a qualified Marketing Manager.
We are seeking a Sales & Marketing Manager to lead our sales initiatives, manage client relationships, and oversee marketing strategies that promote CHON-FM’s services and community presence. This role is perfect for a driven professional who thrives on both creative and strategic work, and who values meaningful engagement with Yukon First Nations and local communities.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Sales & Marketing Manager will oversee CHON-FM’s sales, develop and implement marketing campaigns, and maintain strong relationships with advertisers and partners. This position combines hands-on sales with leadership responsibilities, ensuring advertising targets are met and CHON-FM’s brand remains strong and consistent.
A successful Sales & Marketing Manager can think strategically to achieve the CHON-FM mandate to serve Yukon’s 14 First Nations. The ideal candidate has patience, organization, communication, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Client Management

  • Respond to time sensitive sales inquiries via email and phone as required.
  • Develop and present advertising schedules, proposals, and quotes tailored to client needs and budgets.
  • Lead contract negotiations, secure renewals, and prevent contract lapses.
  • Manage agency orders and ensure proper processing.
  • Generate new leads, re-engage past clients, and expand advertising partnerships.
  • Represent CHON-FM in sponsorship discussions, sales outreach, and community events.

Marketing & Promotions

  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns to promote CHON-FM’s services.
  • Collaborate with production staff to create compelling ad scripts and content.
  • Organize contests, giveaways, and station promotions, securing prizes and sponsorships.
  • Maintain CHON-FM’s brand guidelines across all platforms and materials.
  • Support public outreach events, pop-ups, and community engagement initiatives.

Team Collaboration & Administration

  • Coordinate with Finance and Production team on a regular basis to produce campaigns.
  • Provide executive level support to the General Manager.
  • Develop efficient sales systems and workflows.
  • Work closely with CHON-FM’s technical, production, and on-air staff to ensure smooth campaign execution.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven sales experience, preferably in media, advertising, or radio.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and CRM tools.
  • Experience working with Summit software would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Yukon First Nations, their political structures, and self-government agreements (asset).
  • Familiarity with social media and website platform is an asset.
  • Cross-cultural understanding and respect for Indigenous perspectives.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation:
$35-40/hour depending on experience.
