This position is at the L07 level with an hourly pay range of $38.37 to $48.55

Reporting to the Facility Administrator, the Support Services Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision to support staff, including Custodial Workers, Cook, and clerical staff. Other duties include providing financial services, administrative support, and ensuring facility is maintained, and performing other related duties. The position supervises seven permanent staff and one to five auxiliary/casual staff.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures;
  • Knowledge of supervisory and management techniques including budgeting methods and techniques, staff and work scheduling methods and practices, recruitment and performance management;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Organizational and administrative skills;
  • Strong computer and word processing/spreadsheets, PowerPoint skills;
  • Effective interpersonal skills;
  • Conflict resolution skills;
  • Ability to work independently under pressure with constant interruptions;
  • Ability to take direction from various sources and meet deadlines;
  • Good recordkeeping and bookkeeping skills;
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize;
  • Ability to set priorities and to show good judgment;
  • Ability to manage and supervise staff;
  • Ability to assess and evaluate resource requirements;
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity;
  • Commitment to lifelong learning.

The successful applicant will have significant supervisory experience in preparing reports and correspondence, past support services work experience in an institutional setting, experience in preparing and managing budgets, WHMIS Certification, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification, and a valid Yukon driver’s license. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
