Start/End Date: ASAP at 37.5hr/week.
Wage Range: $21.71 to $32.90/hr (ECE level Dependent)

Job Description:
The Supported Child Care Educator (SCCE) is responsible for the daily care, education, and supervision of a specific child(ren) at the BGCY Learning Tree Daycare. The SCCE is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of program activities as they relate to an inclusive environment. The SCCE will provide support to existing programs, evaluate the physical space and learning environment, and suggest changes to existing programs for successful integration of children with special needs. This position reports to the Early Years Program Director.
The SCCE works alongside the Early Childhood Educators in order to enhance the ratio for daily routines, activities and programs. The SCCE will help to promote and implement an inclusive program for children through developmentally appropriate practice. Further, the SCCE will communicate and collaborate with parents, as well as outside service providers in order to ensure that every child has an opportunity to develop to their fullest potential. Work can be demanding both physically and mentally.
The Supported Childhood Educator is expected to be able to:
- Ensure that our programs standards, guidelines and policies are followed, and that programs align our Mission, Vision, Values and strategic direction;
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of program development and delivery, as per policy and procedure;
- Establish and carry out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child directed activity, care routines and transition times that support children’s individual needs.
- Follow established procedures for diapering, toilet training, hand washing, and safe and healthy food handling.
- Design and maintain appropriate child focused room and outdoor space arrangement.
- Encourage and assist children to practice “self-help” daily
- Provide opportunity for child directed play experience
- Plan and carry out activities that encourage problem solving
- Participate in short and long term planning and evaluation and staff program reviews
- Learn and use the activities and skills provided to assist children in developing the necessary coping skills for addressing unique life issues
- Individualize the curriculum
- Initiate referrals or additional services for parents and children
- Communicate with parents, therapists, and ELCC, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism
Qualifications
- Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to problem solve and find resolutions to issues/conflict;
- Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills;
- Proven time management skills;
- Proficiency with MS Office applications;
- Certificate or Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare
- Current Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector);
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate;
- Valid Foodsafe Level 1 Certificate (an asset);
- ELCC Level 1-3 Certification;
- Meet all ELCC requirements- TB Testing, Immunization record, Dr's note;
- One year of experience
