Reports To: Whitehorse Operations Manager
Location: Whitehorse Food Bank
Position Overview
The Whitehorse Distribution Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and effective delivery of food distribution services at the Whitehorse location for the Food Bank Society of the Yukon. This position supports both staff and volunteers to ensure clients are served with dignity, respect, and in alignment with the Food Bank Society of the Yukon’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities

  • Distribution Oversight
  • Assist and/or manage the food distribution at the Whitehorse Food Bank location.
  • Ensure smooth operations on distribution days.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming distribution environment.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise volunteers.
  • Ensure adequate coverage during all distribution shifts.
  • Support volunteer engagement and satisfaction.

Operations & Administration

  • Assist and/or manage stocking and cleanliness of the Whitehorse distribution area.
  • Receive and coordinate food deliveries from local suppliers with the Whitehorse Warehouse Manager.
  • Assure Shelves and Hampers are stocked by working with Whitehorse Warehouse Manager
  • Act as a liaison between the public, volunteers, and Food Bank staff.
  • Advise and assist the Whitehorse Operations Manager on operational issues and improvements.
  • Complete administrative tasks and reporting as required.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure health, safety, and client care standards are consistently met.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for staff, volunteers, and clients.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Whitehorse Operations Manager to support organizational needs.

Other Duties
Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in community services, not for profits, or volunteer management (asset but not required).
  • Ability to work in Canada
  • Valid Yukon Drivers License
  • Clean CRC
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift 20+ lbs unassisted
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the Food Bank Society of the Yukon.
